The Tail Vice is usually mounted on the right end of the work bench. The jaw face you produce is usually inset or notched into the front right corner, so not to compromise the flat front of the bench, but also to allow a row of shifting dog holes, that move as your wind the vice. This allows for excellent long clamping when working with one moving and one fixed dog.
The improved design of these new bench hardware components is obvious, compared to many other on the market. More cast around the walls of the threads and support rails and much finer casting and finish will be sure to give you years of trouble-free use.
