A permanent dust extraction network does help with safety in a workshop, getting the hoses off the floor and out of the way. It can however limit the use of a dust wand or simple additions to the network.
With the use or a blast gate, to close off the line or open it up for use, you can add a hose as a temporary or permanent fixture, and have it securely mounted to the wall. Simply use a 4” hose clamp to connect the hose to the network side, and screw the hose onto the other side so it is ready for use. Pan head screws are advised over countersink screws.
These blast gates are self cleaning, preventing a build up of debris, and preventing the gate from closing, which is a common cause of poor suction with dust extraction.
