The ACCU-BURR™ is simple, easy and repeatable. A completely new type of burnisher crafted in USA by Union Manufacturing Company in collaboration with Blackburn Tools & Lakeshore Carbide.
The heart of the patent pending Accu-Burr™ burnisher is a 3/16" diameter x 3" long carbide rod with three v-shaped grooves around the middle.These grooves are precision ground to turn a fine, medium, or coarse (5°, 10°, or 15°, respectively) burr simultaneously on both sides of any prepared scraper edge. Because quality and precision matter greatly for the function of this tool, we use a premium American-made grade of carbide, sourced from and ground by Lakeshore Carbide, a leading carbide tooling manufacturer.
The Accu-Burr™ Rod is offered alone, for those who like the idea of customising their tools by making their own handles. Combine this with the Phosphor Bronze Ferrules Union Manufacturing Co. offer to suit, along with your favourite timber and you have the ability to craft a very beautiful and functional tool.
In use, as you are not trying to angle the tool itself, turning a burr on curved scrapers or scrapers of varying thickness, is far easier than ever before. The textured V-grooves on the carbide rod are both extremely effective, but also provide feedback through use - you can 'feel' the tool doing it's job. The three machined angles in the rod are all you will ever need whether your task is removing old finish or taking the final shavings for the perfectly prepared surface.
