On the 16th March, a Carbatec team of 10 from all over Australia, assembled in Newcastle to exhibit in the Timber and Working with Wood’s first ever Newcastle show. After completing the setup of our 30 x 3 meter exhibit on Thursday, the team was ready to welcome Newcastle residence and wood enthusiasts. Friday saw many woodworking students and large school groups shuffle through – all eager to learn more about the timber tools on display.
Cameron’s wood turning drew in crowds as he demonstrated pen turning using a Teknatool Lathe with a range of different accessories.
Our new Japanese Z-Saws were a big hit – leaving those that tried them out impressed with their quick and smooth cut. Everyone enjoyed joining in with our staff to carve Mt Fuji using the Flexcut Micro Tools. We were left with a creatively carved replica with the help of hundreds of kids and adults.
Hugh, Our Veritas champion, got the chance to share his knowledge with show-goers on our Veritas Handplanes and had a constant flow of customers eager to give them a go. One of the big hits of the festival was our Kreg Joinery range. Megs was demonstrating their ease of use and we received amazing feedback from customers with all different woodworking expertise – from those with beginner knowledge to advanced. We also had our SawStop table saw on demonstration. Tony was drawing in big crowds that were eager to watch how this innovative technology operates and learn about unique Emergency Brake System. Our friends at Tormek also came down to Newcastle to show off their T7 Sharpening System and we also set up a Machinery Showroom where Ben was demonstrating our Jet Bandsaws. We also had some time to take a look at the other exhibiters and loved seeing the work they had on display. Overall it was a great first year at the Newcastle Timber and Working with Wood show. Take a look at where we will be next. |
