The strong and solid alloy and steel construction make this thicknesser a stable and low-vibration machine. (Some other brands simply add weight and call it a 'feature'). Its high-quality construction means it's flat and solid where it counts and adjustable where it needs to be. The extra large, adjustable infeed and outfeed tables give you a minimal (or no) snipe effect, and the integrated lockable head aids simple, quick and trouble-free machining. Comparing our model to others? This unit is physically larger, heavier, more powerful and better built than most other benchtop units on the market.
Twenty-six (26) precision machined 2-sided High-Speed Steel (HSS) blades are fitted to the head as standard and will easily cope with most timbers. Upgrading to the solid Carbide blades means longer life overall. It is worth considering when it's time to make a full blade change. HSS blades are generally sharper than the carbide blades but will wear quicker, so working out the right blade for you is all going to depend on how much work you will be doing and what timber you're using.
The TH-BX330P is, hands-down, our absolute best seller. It impresses everybody with its well-proven performance and easily converts the most brand-loyal power tool buyers. This machine is an excellent addition to your workshop or worksite. The optional stand (PS-330) is perfect for this machine, so it can be added as a more permanent solution to your workshop.
Dual-size dust ports of 100mm or 63mm mean either a dust extractor or Shop Vac type vacuum can be used with this machine. If you are opting for the dust collector, we recommend pairing a 2HP machine with this thicknesser. The tool compartment has a spot for all the tools required for this machine, so they will never become lost.
A simple front-mounted overall depth scale indicates the height of the head in relation to the table underneath, and it's adjustable. The integrated front- and centre-mounted cutting depth gauge allows simple adjustments. Know exactly how much you are cutting, regardless of board thickness or width.
Pre-set final machine stops give this machine yet another edge over our competition! The presets take you directly to your ultimate desired thickness. These are set at 1/8", 1/4", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" and 1-3/4" (3.18mm, 6.35mm, 12.7mm, 19.05mm, 25.4mm, 31.75mm, 38.1mm and 44.45mm). Set, and forget!
Maximum cut depth up to 3mm for up to 151 mm wide and 1.0-1.5 mm up to 330 mm wide (depending on timber). Less is more for a finer finish and better wear and tear on your machine.
Dust extraction is required for this machine to remove the build-up of sawdust around the cutter head. A 'shop-vac' or 2HP dust collector is the most effective method.

Spiral vs Helical - Confusion abounds:
Because the two terms are used in different ways (and interchanged at times), here is our Carbatec definition.
Helical (or true helical) Cutterheads feature rows of cutters that are wrapped around the cutterhead in a very definite helix-shaped row. The cutters or inserts are set at an angle to your workpiece, which gives them a very clean shear-cutting action. The cutters will have a slight radius cutting edge to help eliminate lines in your work and increase this shear action.
Spiral Cutterheads, on the other hand, generally feature blades arranged around the cutterhead, perpendicular to the workpiece (not angled), configured so as the cutterhead spins, the next cutter along will be in contact with the work. As this repeats, the cutting action happens in a spiral path.
The difference? Many reviews around the world say that with smaller portable machines, Spiral offers very little difference in cut for the added cost of Helical. With larger cast iron workshop machinery, True Helical cutterheads reign supreme. That's why Carbatec only offers you the very best option.
