Designed to mount on the bench, it is small in size, but packed with features and reliability found throughout our drill press line up. The Carbatec 3/4 HP Drill Dress has a good sized round table (305mm diameter) with 6 slots for mounting clamps or vices to. The table can be tilted and raised or lowered easily, allowing for different material thicknesses and unique jobs requiring drilling to be done at angles other than 90°.
Capable of spindle speeds from 210 to 3340 RPM, the adjustment is via belts which are easily accessed and adjusted to get the right speed for the job. The cast iron pulley system reduces belt slip and vibration and produces more inertia due to its heft and the stability it provides.
The 82mm of quill travel means those deep holes can be drilled easily, or jobs can be drilled in one go, rather than having to turn them over to drill from the other side which doesn’t always come off as planned.
The chuck is keyed, so will hold drills securely from 3mm to 16mm, something that is really important especially when boring into steel, it is common practice to tighten the chuck onto a drill using all three chuck key holes when needing that extra grip. The keyed chuck is fitted using a Morse Taper 2 shank to the drill press, so the user can swap this out to a keyless chuck if so desired.
Fitted with a worklight to assist with illuminating the workpiece ensuring accurate drilling, the LED lights provide good visibility without a lot of power consumption, as well as being long lasting.
The use of NVR switching on machine now is standard, with the switch being positioned above the chuck, within easy reach during working operations.
