This powerful dust extractor has an included 5 micron filter bag and plastic collection bag system, which are great for most applications. A 2000 grit wet and dry sandpaper has grit particles around 10 microns, which can get caught in 5 micron filtration. If you are producing very fine dust (e.g., finish sanding), we suggest adding the FM-300CF Pleated Filter for more efficient dust collection and filtering. It filters down to 1 micron for added cleanliness of air output.
The aim of the game for dust extraction is to remove all those fine particles from around your machine and the air you breath for safe removal. A 5 micron rated filtration system is much more efficient at removing these fine dust, pollen, spore and grit particles than larger ratings of 10 to even 15 microns.
The increased airflow of 1200CFM is recommended for machines that produce larger quantities of shavings, such as jointers and thicknessers.
