For a shooting plane, you can do no better. This plane is big, and has a long base (400mm) and low centre of gravity, these combined make it both stable and effective at its job. While it is heavy at 3.5Kg, it is not difficult or tiresome to use as you are just pushing and pulling it in its track.
The combined 12° bed angle and 25° blade bevel, gives an effective cutting angle of 38°.
The body is fully stress-relieved, ductile cast iron, makes the body less brittle, and able to cope with the stress and forces placed upon such a plane.
The angle of the blade gives a shear cut which is easier on the timber and blade. The Norris-style mechanism combines feed and lateral adjustments for easy, precisely setting the blade.
The PM-V11 blade is easy to sharpen, will stay sharp longer and is more impact resistant.
A right-handed version is available (05P54-71).
