Designed specifically for the Australian market, this short-bed version of the popular REVO 18/36 means you get the benefits of a full-size lathe in a much more compact unit. An excellent choice for schools, clubs and training facilities where multiple units are set up.
All the strength, stability and control are at the heart throughout to satisfy true specialists and woodturning professionals.
One of the striking features of this lathe is an ergonomic panel with controls mounted on an anodized aluminium plate. The speed is smoothly controlled with a tactile rubber-augmented knurled aluminium dial. Add the easy-to-read blue hue of the speed indicator, and this machine stands out from the competition.
The solid bed, with an impressive width of 208mm, is made of high-quality steel ASTM A36 (tougher than cast iron), and is precisely ground providing smooth travel of the headstock, tailstock and toolrest. The spindle is run by a highly efficient 2HP (10amp) induction motor with a VFD frequency convertor for high torque even at lower speeds. The speed range can be changed with a clever one-lever mechanism.
The headstock, tailstock and legs of the lathe are made from cast iron, securing minimum vibration and high comfort for turning oversized pieces. Tailstock and headstock cam lock levers are placed on the back of the machine and will not get in the way. All cam lock levers have soft grip handles and a long length, resulting in a firm feel with no deflection. The legs/stand are included as standard equipment on this model.
This machine suits serious hobbyists and professionals alike. The power at your control provides ample torque for utilising the full capacity of the machine, whether that be the 450mm (18") swing over the bed or the 508mm (20") distance between centres. But if that's not enough, a full suite of optional accessories is also available.
An expansion set consists of a 500mm (20") step-down extension that increases the onboard capacity to an enormous 1410mm (56")! An included riser block then allows the tailstock to travel to the end of this extension. This, in turn, allows you to slide the headstock to the end of the lathe for an increased bowl capacity of 800mm (32"), with a tool rest extension included to use with your regular banjo. Perhaps you find your tailstock in the way when not in use... The swing away extension acts as a small 12" bed extension, that conveniently unclips and swings out of the way when not in use. The deluxe wheel kit features a gas strut and will have you mobile with your machine through your shop.
