This premium Nakaya Kataba Meiko saw is a the Japanese equivalent of a combination blade.
Kataba Meiko saws feature a unique tooth design, not dissimilar to a Dozuki cross cut, only a little more coarse and with a special skip tooth style pitch. This combination allows this style of saw to cross cut effectively, while also allowing an extent of rip cutting without completely binding up in the swarf.
The blade stock on this model is the thickest available at 0.7mm and lacks a rigid spine allowing full through cuts on thicker or longer stock, whether ripping or cross-cutting.
The specially hardened Japanese teeth are multi-faceted and cut extremely efficiently on the pull stroke, as per the Japanese fashion.
This model has a 300mm blade which is fully replaceable, set in a traditional rattan wrapped timber handle.
