The term "Parabolic Flute" comes from the flat parabolic shape of the flute for a twist drill. The geometry of the grind is specifically altered to improve chip extraction, which leads to all sorts of advantages for Parabolic Drills: Reduces "peck drilling" action except on deepest holes. Allows increased feed rates for better manufacturing productivity and shorter cycle times. Improved chip evacuation gives a better surface finish in the hole.
