Sounds fancy (and cold!) but what does this mean? This treatment actually changes the structure of the steel, producing an ultra-fine and hard martensitic structure, supported by fine carbides. Erm, yes. .. And in plain terms? Additional wear resistance and edge holding capability of approximately 2 to 3 times that of regular M2 HSS !! Now that's an impressive edge!All three of our Cryogenic Series Chisels Sets feature this treatment and are coupled with Stainless Steel Ferrules, along with solid and smooth European Hardwood handles. They are even supplied in very 'giftable' black storage boxes, as shown. This 6 piece medium tool set is a fantastic next-tier kit which will set you up with the basic tools required for just about any turning project, be that spindle or bowl based. We call this a 'medium' set, as it contains tools with mid-length blades and handles. Perfectly suited for midi and full size lathes, according to your personal tool preference. It contains a 28 mm Roughing Gouge; 19 mm Flat Skew Chisel; 9. 5 mm Spindle Gouge; 12 mm Bowl Gouge; 12 mm (5 mm thick) Parting Tool and 12 mm Round Nose Scraper. The blades are laser etched and 130-150 mm in length, while the handles are also laser etched and 220 mm in length on all tools bar the bowl gouge which is larger at 180 mm blade with a 310 mm handle.
