Especially when woodturning, it is handy to be able to find the centre of timber, so the blank is not too far out of balance. An out of balance piece of timber is more dangerous to work with, and requires more roughing down. Carbatec's Centre Find allows very quick marking of the centre, simply place it on the end of the blank between the "V" wedge, and scribe the line, then rotate and repeat the process to get two crossed lines giving the centre point.
