AMANA custom made Fret Slot Bit !!We had Amana manufacture this bit, specifically with Luthiers in mind. This micro-bit features a triple-flute downcut spiral, with a precision 0.023" (0.58mm) diameter cut - perfect for a range of fret slot cutting and fret wire tangs. Always check with the manufacturer of your fret wire but this sizing suits the majority of tangs from Ukulele and Mandolin wire, through to Electric and Acoustic Guitars and Basses - along with everything inbetween!Note that this is ONLY for use in a CNC! DO NOT try to use a handheld router for this purpose.Amana Spektra coated for the ultimate in cutting edge performance and longevity. This bit will last a long time when used appropriately. Warning: Due to the extremely small diameter involved, this bit is not guaranteed against breakage.

Our Spektra bits feature a nACo nanocomposite coating with an extreme nanohardness and heat resistance. With a brilliant distinctively-tinted coloring nACo provides additional improvements in four critical aspects of router tooling.

nACo coating is a micro-thin ceramic coating which enables the tool's cutting edge to retain crucial sharpness and lubricity. This provides longevity and produces cutting results of the highest quality.
Coating prevents high heat and oxidation which is detrimental to cutting tool performance.
Multi-colored hues, while attractive, will dissipate upon use and yet coating will remain fully effective.
nACo offers approximately 4,500 Vickers for impressive solid hardness on cutting areas of the tool, for an increase up to 2.5 times compared to uncoated bits

Note: Blue based colour dissipates immediately upon use, however, nACo nanocomposite coating will not wear off.

This SPEKTRA coated micro-bit has been specially designed with Luthiers for cutting fret slots and other very detailed work, such as inlay work.Spiral-flute bits combine a shearing action in cutting with an augering action in chip clearance. The shearing action yields an especially clean accurate cut while the augering action clears chips from the cut.The ‘Up-Cut’ spiral effectively clears waste material in blind (non-through) cuts, while leaving a clean and crisp bottom edge surface.Special unique carbide grade; increased clearance geometry and razor-sharp cutting edges with polished flutes provide a superior finish and longer tool life especially in abrasive materials. Great for production settings and excellent for creating grooves and dado cuts in particleboard, plywood and laminate. Only used on CNC machines and other automatic routers.
