Koguchi genno have a soft centre and are harder at each end. This deadens hammer blows and minimises bounce. The result is more efficient energy transmission to the surface being struck. One end is flat and is used for striking chisels and nails - the other is domed for the final sinking a nail flush with the work surface. These genno are made from a single piece of steel that is heat hardened at each end. Each head is fitted with a Japanese oak handle that significantly reduces shock transmission.
