With the Tormek original axe jig SVA-170 you can sharpen your axes to a superior sharpness without the risk of overheating. The axe rests firmly in the jig and is sharpened with a constant edge angle.
As with any tool being sharpened, no heat is being used due to the slow speed and the water bath. This means there is no risk of overheating. Overheating, or burning and edge means this edge will not stay as sharp. The wheel is constantly running in a bath of water at a slow speed.
An axe used for sport or leisure is ground to a different angle than a carpenters axe. This is easy to achieve, simply by adjusting the bar closer to, or further away from the wheel.
